Dear God,
You who raise up and remove earthly leaders…bless America with leaders who believe in You and who understand their limits…who stand in integrity…who admit their mistakes…who accept responsibility…who speak truth with wisdom…who care for others especially the defenseless…who protect the gift of life, especially the lives of the helpless…and who keep their feet grounded firmly on lowly paths of service. AND…may we whom they lead, follow in these same ways.
In Jesus, Amen.
I pray that God will raise up Christians who stop relying on Government to make change in the world and instead become the change needed. Give us Christians who make our country a place where we don’t need to rely on the Government to take care of the orphan, the widow, the homeless. Instill in us the desire to be salt and light by being the solution.
Father, I know that you are in control. No one has power unless You give it to them. Lord, please work through the people that get put into leadership positions in this election. Please keep us safe and free from those that would oppress your Word. Overthrow any evil that tries to come against your people. May we not abuse the freedom that we have, but use it for Your glory. Give us strength to stand…to endure…until you call us Home.
I pray that God will continue to protect our freedoms that allow us to serve him without fear. It is also my prayer that he would draw our leaders to him, and give them the courage to stand up for what is right.
I second what Paige said, and like Sherry, I want him to help us not to force our freedoms beyond his will.
I beg for his forgivness upon such a system that oppresses those less fortunate……and has ignored social justice…..and for forgivness for myself for not doing enough…
Dear Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for serving myself, instead of You. You have blessed us as a nation, Lord. You have blessed us as Americans much more so than most of your world. Forgive us when we forget this. Help us to realize that with great blessings, come great responsibility. Help us to feel uncomfortable when we are complacent. Agitate us when we are comfortable. Help us to see every opportunity that You place before us – and then help us to act. Remind me that You are not the God of America, but that You Are God – of all. Thank you for your love, and thank you for your son’s love. Without love, we would be lost. Remind us of that love, so that we might love all, just as you did.
Amen.
Almighty God, help us, like David, to wash our faces and rise to worship you in this hour. We have prayed and pleaded in ashes…and you have answered from on high, LORD. Blessed be your name! Whatever comes now, Father…blessed be your name. AMEN

I pray that the Lord remember there are many in this country that love and honor him. I pray that he hear our prayers and not turn his back on us forever. I will also thank him for humbling us if it causes us to remember why this is (was) a great country, and what “In God We Trust” really means. Please, God Bless America!
I also know and pray that even if God has turned his back on our country….he has not turned his back on the ones that love and obey him. No matter what–thank you God that I have nothing to fear as long as you have not forsaken me!
Proverbs 14L34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”
Lord help us to be a nation of righteous people and to not be disgraced by our sins. Give us peace so that Your word may be taught and that Good News can be shared with those who are bruised and broken so that they can find rest.
Father, forgive us. We let you down so many times and in so many ways. Thank you for being longsuffering with us and I humbly ask that you continue to keep us in your care.
Help us to recognize opportunities to do good and reach out to people with the gospel, because, despite what many think, it will not be the Republican or Democratic parties that save us, it will be the Gospel.
Give us the courage to stand up for what is right and to be light in this dark world of sin.
I pray that we will all wake up and see that while we may gain the world, we forfeit our souls. I pray that we will stop serving two masters, stop loving money, and start truly loving people. I pray that we would remember the word community, and stop being so individualistic. Most of all, I pray that we would all see Jesus.
Help us Lord to use our freedom to your glory and not in ways that will drive us away from your presence.

For the nation as a whole, I pray, that America becomes discontent with the image of Jesus they have been given, and demand to know the real Jesus.
I also pray that people are treated with respect no matter who they are.
